About The ASO
The Australian Society of Ophthalmologists was formed in 1982 with the aim of representing the medico-political interests of ophthalmologists within Australia. Today the ASO is the peak professional body for ophthalmologists and has attracted close to 70% of membership across all states and territories.
The ASO is a registered incorporated association with NSW Office of Fair Trading ABN: 29 454 001 424.
The ASO is governed by executive members and supported by secretariat staff. As well as representing medico-political interests the executive aims to improve and advance the business functions of members.
The ASO enjoys a strong affiliation with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
